
India has consumed 61,702 MT of agrochemicals in the past year, accounting for only 2% of global consumption, which is divided by category: insecticides continue to dominate the Indian cotton, rice, and vegetable agrochemical market, accounting for 51%, followed by fungicides at 32%, and herbicides at 16%.

Fungicides are used to control fungal infections in plants or seeds. In addition to being widely used for storage, they are increasingly being used to protect field tubers, fruits, and vegetables. Fungicides can be directly applied to ornamental plants, trees, field crops, grains, and lawns.
In India, herbicides are used to control perennial and parasitic weeds with resistance, and can also effectively deal with densely planted crops that cannot be weeded manually or mechanically. As labor shortage, the usage of agrochemicals will also increase.
Data shows that the United States is the largest consumer of agrochemicals, with 407,779 MT, followed by Brazil, China, and other countries, as shown in the table below:
