Are you caught in using common improper practices of chemical weeding?

Because of an obvious increase of sunlight and rainfall from Start of Summer to the Grain Full, weeds grow so fast. If not taken seriously, it’s too late to do anything about the flourishing weeds. Weed control in the corn field should be put on the agenda immediately. Chemical weed control in the corn field has the merits of high efficiency, good effects and long validity. It has been widely applied to the production of corn. However, the technical requirements of corn herbicides are high. Improper use can easily lead to unsatisfactory weeding effect and even phytotoxicity in corn plots.

Are you caught in using two common improper operations?

1. Missed the best spraying time
The best time to spray the herbicide is in 3~5 leaf stage of maize and 2~4 leaf stage of weeds. Once the optimal spraying period is missed, it makes prevention and weeding high in difficulty. The pesticide resistance of weeds increased significantly after 8 leaf stage of maize, because weeds leaf ages are too old, such as red root giant foxtail and common crabgrass herb.  
2. Excessive use may cause pesticide damage
In pursuit of weeding effect, some farmers blindly increase the dosage or field work is not up to standard. The spray is uneven when spraying medicine, it lead to excessive concentration. Excessive amount of local liquid medicine will cause pesticide damage.

To use herbicide for corn fields in a scientific way, it is recommended to do the following three things:

1. Seize the moment
Choose the most appropriate time to use pesticide, according to the law of growth management, physiological characteristics, environmental conditions and soil conditions and so on. Pay attention to the prohibition of using organophosphorus pesticides 7 days before and after use, in order to prevent the occurrence of pesticide damage accidents.
2. Operate scrupulously
Spraying requires droplets with a certain fineness, the pesticide can be evenly covered over a certain area of the soil surface or the stems and leaves of weeds.   Should follow the principle of accurate dosage and uniform spraying.
3. Pesticides selection
The resistance of weeds such as crabgrass and red root giant foxtail in corn fields is getting higher and higher. Recommended Practical Techniques

1.Pesticide period: the growth stage of needle leaf of corn、2.5~8.8 leaf stage
2. Optimum application time: soil arch period- the growth stage of needle leaf of corn(50-70% be unearthed)and after the weeds seedling complete emergence、2.5~4.5 leaf stage of corn;
3. Optimal dose
Spring corn: the growth stage of needle leaf: 3-3.6kg/ha; 2.5~4.5 leaf stage: 3-3.6kg/ha;
Summer-sown corn: the growth stage of needle leaf: 3-3.6 kg/ha; 2.5 leaf stage: 3-3.6kg/ha, 3.5~4.5 leaf stage: 3-3.6kg/ha. (High-resistance areas are recommended to be treated at high doses.)
