Citrus is one of the major fruits in China, with a long growth cycle, resulting in a wide variety of diseases and pests.
After spring, citrus gradually develops flower buds and new shoots. This is a crucial period for enhancing flower quality. Good flower quality leads to rapid fruit development and better control of shoots for fruit retention. If not properly managed during this period, poor flower quality can result in slow fruit development and difficulties in controlling shoots for fruit retention. Following the flowering stage, young fruits start growing and enter the enlargement phase, which is also the most critical period for citrus disease and pest control throughout the year.
Citrus Leaf Miner:
After hatching, the larvae of the citrus leaf miner burrow into the tender leaves and feed on the underlying tissue, creating curved, silvery-white tunnels and causing leaf curling and hardening. Severe damage to new shoots can also lead to distortion, affecting the flowering and fruiting in next year. Young fruits may show signs of damage with visible scars on the fruit peel.
Citrus Red Spider Mite:
During the initial infestation, the leaves turn pale green, followed by the appearance of gray-white spots. In severe cases, the leaves lose their luster and become gray-white. Infestation on young fruits results in the appearance of pale green spots, while mature fruits develop light yellow spots. Damage to the fruit stalk can cause a significant drop in fruit yield.
Citrus Rust Mite:
After leaf damage, the affected leaves exhibit a wilted appearance, similar to water deficiency, and are prone to falling off. This affects the tree's vigor and yield. When the fruit is damaged, it excretes oil, which oxidizes in the air and turns into a dark brown color, commonly known as "black-skinned fruit," which adversely affects its quality.
Brightmart introduces a new product "Cheeryer", which effectively controls citrus rust mites, red spider mites, and citrus leaf miners. It also demonstrates excellent efficacy against caterpillars on rice and other economic crops.
